My selection is an August 31, 2017 article from The Economic Times, a daily newspaper from India.

The main focus of the article is about Harsh Vardhan speaking at the 2017 Business and Climate Summit in New Delhi, India. Vardhan is India's Minister of Science and Technology, and the head of the "Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change" and the Ministry of Earth Sciences. The Business and Climate Summit is an annual forum where key figures in India's government and businesses meet to discuss climate change policy, with particular regards to reducing carbon emissions. Vardhan assured the attendees that India will not let the world down regarding commitment to environmental issues, while adding that the developed nations need to live up to their own promises of assisting developing nations with various means of support.

Thoughts: I'm uncertain how to approach this article, as my knowledge of India's issues with the environment are limited. Vardhan seems positive, but I don't know if I can take him at his word. For example, he notes that India was responsible for including terms like "sustainable lifestyle" and "climate justice" in the Paris Agreement, but without further context, I have no way of knowing if the inclusion of these terms has any real impact. Another quote that bothered me was when another person stated, "India was named second most attractive country in renewables". The article makes no effort to explain exactly what this means.
